I'm not trying to convince anyone that NFLX should be held. I'm saying they are a media company, and media companies (along with cable operators) were some of the first industries to embrace cashflow as a valuation metric. Wall Street agreed, and later on private equity took it to entirely new level.

As a media (and software) company, cashflow is the metric to follow. That and growth, which is the most important element to their valuation. Without growth, their value plummets.
