At 1447 local time, a bold formation of Ukrainian drones crossed into Russian airspace, just 50 metres off the ground—breaching 625 km of dense air defense. Within ninety seconds, Su-35 pilot’s Irbis-E radar started picking up faint, fleeting returns: ten tiny signatures pulsating at a 4,200 Hz Doppler shift, impossible to ignore.
R-77s locked on, but the drones shut down their engines and disappeared from view, becoming silent gliding shadows. As the missiles homed in, one hit empty terrain, another found its mark as Drone?3 sacrificed itself, allowing eight to escape.
They pressed east, only to encounter Borisoglebsk-2 electronic warfare jamming their GPS and communications, followed by a Moskva-1 system tracking their positions. Then the deadly hush of Penicillin acoustic detection caught them, fast and silent. Missiles launched blind, acoustic-guided.
