Anybody who was an adult during the Reagan era would have remembered that. Reagan was anti-taxes. Whether it made sense or not, he was opposed to them. Not to mention, an ardent freetrader. Which is why he encouraged the rush to offshore production from the US. Now a large part of that was to break the unions, which he was ironically successful at. Ironic because he headed the SAG for a while...
