Sodium is sodium, from a mine, the sea or naturally in plants and meats. We need sodium to survive. When you have too much sodium is causes your body to retain water, when this happens with the heart, its called congestive heart failure. I am on multiple meds to reduce the excess water I retain everyday because of my heart and lung problems.

I take medications to control the water retention. I need to intake 1500 mg (2000 max) of sodium a day for my heart to function properly.
