"...what are their arguments for buying these type funds, steady income?"

Pretty much. I am fairly new to the forum which seems to be "refugees" from a defunct/or other issue with a Fidelity forum. I've not had a Fidelity account for years, so cant say. They seem to know each other tho when joining.

Generally, Pimco's management and history in the Bond world is the #1 reason for owning. Steady income yes, particularly with PDI, tho they seem to own other Pimco funds as well. There is a CEF "czar' over there leading the discussions. Sometimes he can be pretty heavy handed which is why I lay low over there. About 99% of the CEF comments are about bond CEFs. So I am learning a bit, which I like.

I am probably a rare one over there that owns equity CEFs. Some others do also, but they rarely talk about them like we do here. The leader posts a new thread each month where everyone lists their CEFs and any changes from the last month.
