AMD is aiming for an insane 7.0GHz or more clock speed with its next-gen Zen 6-based Ryzen CPUs Copilot: Yes—there’s been some movement since that July 2025 report, but it’s still mostly smoke, not silicon. October 2025 Update on Zen 6 “Olympic Ridge” Internal testing continues: AMD is reportedly hitting 6.4GHz+ in stable tests, with 7.0GHz still the aspirational ceiling for select SKUs. Node confirmation: The high-end desktop chips are still expected to use TSMC’s N2X, a bleeding-edge 2nm-class node optimized for high frequency. However, some insiders now suggest N2P or N3P may be used for lower-tier or mobile variants. Launch timing: Zen 6 desktop CPUs are still not expected to ship before mid-to-late 2026, with EPYC “Venice” server parts possibly taping out earlier.
