How is that not a scam?
No one is "collecting bribes". And the facts have clearly indicated they do know what they're building.

I can think of at least two damned good reasons to have torn the old structure down:

1) It wasn't being used for any important purposes. And,
2) By tearing it down he eliminated absurd complaints (like yours) that the old useless structure should not be torn down. Trump handled it like a brilliant SOB: Tear it down and take question later.

It is why after NYC worked on rebuilding the Wohlman rink for years, maybe a decade, before giving up and Trump finished in 18 months. Some people, relatively few, just know how to get stuff done. Trump is one of those people.
