Eric, I think I also overestimated China's electrical generation shortfall. Previously I thought they were going to expand out their coal-powered generation because it's cheap and quick to deploy. But now I see that they're putting in the extra cost and effort to go with other sources of electrical energy. Maybe now China can finally get a handle on their air quality issues. Right now in Beijing their AQI is 90, which is Moderate, but for the next four days they're forecasting an AQI around 100-200, which is Unhealthy. aqicn.org If I ever visit Beijing in the near future (which is quite likely), I'll make sure to wear a mask while walking outside.
