Hi David,
Actually, I was going to post over on the Amigo thread after I saw your post over there.
You are correct. I look at TA only. You have done what most people don't, looked at the FA first and TA second. This is the best way to initiate new positions.
First you find out if the fundamentals are solid. Are they making their numbers, profits up, future earnings and prospects good? How are they rated etc?
Once you are secure you have found a solid company, then you look at the TA to see if it is the right time to enter the trade.
Always combine FA with TA. How many times have you seen a great, solid company slide in the market? Fundamentals didn't change but maybe the sector/market risk did.
A stocks movement only has 25% to do with the stock itself. The other 85% has to do with sector risk.Strange, but true.
A great example is what happened in October. Fundamentally companies were the same but the sectors started to reverse as did the NYSE bullish percent. Guaranteed the same thing will happen to these great companies under duplicate circumstances in the future. TA will tell you when that is about to happen.

I hope this helps. Best of luck to you.

Jan
