Strong presentation today. A nice update and refreshing approach to the market..."dominate in '98" Company is getting more aggressive. It should be an interesting year siebel vs vntv. Company comment: "Tom is winning the mind share battle, but he hasn't won the market share battle." Vantive will be doing a lot this year in upping aggressiveness in both market share and mind share. Vantive is NOT competing for the MSFT deal. The company did not respond to the RFP. Apparently MSFT required the "SFA" purchase to be more a lead management system that required extensive replication managed at the application layer. Management did not want to build technology they thought should be in the database engine. My understanding is that it's down to sebl/aurum. Whoever wins will need to build an ugly piece of replication code into the application layer. Clearly Clarify's win of MSFT launched them into the leadership position in CIS. I know not winning isn't helpful, but would it be possible not to spin this as a loss for those folks out there that don't like vntv? TD
