Bill, re: Cramer on QCOM,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Snip>>>>>>>>

My problems are twofold. First, Qualcomm is a boastful company. I don’t want to say anymore about that. Second, the action in Qualcomm today reminds me of the action in Qualcomm in 1999 when that stock advanced 2,600% only to experience one of the worst collapses in the entire dot-com era.

I searched Copilot and came up with what appears to be Cramer’s last interview with Amon (6/17/22) (video link and text below )

From the chart (below) QCOM share price had declined from about $170 (12/31/21) to $120 (6/17/22) the date of the interview. At that QCOM was featured in his charitable trust portfolio and Cramer was very positive on QCOM as Amon positively explained their diversification plans . Unfortunately, the market was in a sell-off in the 1st half 2022 and QCOM’s recovery lagged the NAZ index for most of 2023, leaving Cramer with egg on his face. From the chart below, QCOM passed the NAZ in mid 2024 but quickly reversed significantly while the NAZ continued to reach new highs.

Apparently Cramer believes Amon oversold (boasting ) QCOMs diversification plans back in June 2022. Note- the diversification plan was first announced in the November 2021 Investor Day without a specific timeframe and new segment targets ($22B w/o data center products ) which came later in November 2024.

Hopefully, Cramer will again have a facefull of eggs as QCOMs diversification plans / targets show positive signs of becoming realized.

  1. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon on Mad Money with Jim Cramer
    Date: June 2022
Context: Semiconductor supply chain. Amon outlines Qualcomm’s resilience strategy and long-term growth in automotive and edge computing. Cramer challenges the sustainability of margins.
Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon on Mad Money with Jim Cramer, 06/17/22 [FULL INTERVIEW]Amon reassured Cramer and his viewers that the growth fundamentals of Qualcomm’s business remain intact, and the company is displaying strong execution and operational discipline. Since its most recent earnings call, Qualcomm has added a partnership with the Volkswagen Group to its automotive win pipeline — now in excess of $16 billion — and acquired Cellwize to bolster its OpenRAN and 5G private network offerings. As digital transformation continues at pace across all sectors of the economy, Qualcomm tech remains in high demand, especially in the automotive and IoT industries. And it’s not just auto and IoT spurring growth at Qualcomm — its mobile business is growing among premium OEMs like Samsung (from 40 to 75 percent). Amon continues to say that it’s difficult to understand the market at the moment, and that Qualcomm is focusing on things that it can control — premium tier mobile partnerships, share of wallet, automotive, and IoT, for example. Speaking of automotive — it continues to be an exciting story for Qualcomm. Amon, who just returned from VivaTech 2022 in Paris, says he had a lot of excellent conversations about auto while he was there, and that the Snapdragon Digital Chassis is resonating with the global industry. “When you think about automotive, we’re winning the future of the automotive semiconductor business,” says Amon. Cramer and Amon also discuss the ongoing lockdowns in China and what the means for the semiconductor industry; growth opportunities in 5G and the metaverse in both consumer and enterprise markets; the transition of PCs to ARM (including Project Volterra, a new collaboration with Microsoft); and much more. Amon is positive about Qualcomm’s future because digital transformation and shifting technology trends in consumer and enterprise markets place Qualcomm tech at the crossroads of countless industries. And Cramer concludes that Qualcomm has “too much in the pipe, in the future” not to stick in Qualcomm’s corner.
