I detested that Cramer guy the 1st time I saw his act. Anyone who claims to know about every stock every trading day by definition knows nothing about any stock/company.

I would not pay too much heed to "major" analysts either. In my time, had to entertain analysts who followed my company. These guys (nearly all MBAs with no STEM background) only have to follow a handful of assigned companies. Given that, you'd think they would taken the time to really know the companies they follow and the sectors they are in. Nope. Most are intellectually lazy. Their knowledge is skin deep. They are easy to lead/manipulate by playing to their imaginations or biases.

What is scary tho' is how much weight these analysts carry with institutional (= other people's) money managers. Guess it's different/easier when it's not your own money. What you need is cover, as in CYA. And all you need is for your bets to average out ahead of your peers, who also listen to their favorite/friendly analysts. It's a strange game.
