Putin is Losing the Weirdest War in 150 Years — The Telegraph

Lord Palmerston once joked that during the 1864 war between Denmark and Prussia, only three people knew why it began: one died, one went mad, and the third forgot. If that war once seemed the height of absurdity, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has now surpassed it.

As geopolitical strategist Mark Brolin writes for The Telegraph, Putin’s war has become a grotesque parody of power — a 19th-century imperial fantasy colliding with 21st-century reality.

Instead of restoring Russian “greatness,” the invasion has exposed the decay beneath the Kremlin’s image. Russia has bled hundreds of thousands of troops, lost global markets, and turned its so-called allies into wary partners. What began as a show of strength has become a portrait of weakness.
