most of the early fundamental ones should have expired. I built wimax chips from 2005 until 2010. It was all OFDMA. wifi invented the ofdma about 2000-2002 era.

but the patent pool is lightly enforced and most patents are not asserted. mostly controlled by the wifi alliance.
