Thanks for that post, Wharfie.
I remember Brumar as a guy that I often agreed with back during the Bush Jr. era. He was indeed a Reagan conservative, and we shared a lot of common political values.
Things turned when Trump rose to power. He became a staunch anti-Trump crusader, while I at the time didn't think that Trump 1.0 was that bad. At times our debates turned rather heated, as is typically the case on these forums. In fact, I thought he had turned into the very definition of TDS, where he would obsess over superficial topics like Melania's origins or the genetics of her son Barron.
After I turned into an anti-Trump crusader myself, I think our political values once again aligned.
What strikes me the most, upon reflection, is how he has stayed relatively constant, even while the winds of politics changed drastically. He realized early on what a danger Trump represented to America, and although for years I dismissed his concerns as too extreme, I now realize how right he was.
Anyway, my only regret now is that I didn't have the chance to say goodbye. I'm guessing his health took a sudden downturn, which is why he didn't have the chance to bid the forums farewell.
Rest in peace, Brumar. We'll keep the debates going for you.
