koan is very much like Marx as their personal lives relate. Engels was the brains and money behind the operation. Marx, like koan, loved to gamble and speculate in markets but like most gamblers one big win was followed by a string of debilitating losses. Mind you, koan was on the government payroll most of that time and guarded that very closely. So on some level he understood personal value but the rest of it was prey for his socially scientific methods to make use of other people's capital for his brilliant ideas about how society and governance should work. He might still think speculating in Canadian penny stocks and playing poker is the same as starting a business to create a product or service that other people use. Can you imagine koan making a payroll in the real world? But he claims to be an expert at budgets in his politically appointed job back in the day. koan is special, hahahaha...
