Ontario gets it. Liberals still too stupid to govern.

The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday edition that Ontario is conducting a feasibility study for a new pipeline and energy corridor to transport oil and gas from Alberta and Saskatchewan to refineries and ports on James Bay, Hudson Bay and the Great Lakes.
The Globe's Emma Graney writes that Premier Doug Ford said this initiative aims to strengthen Ontario's economy and protect its energy security amidst U.S. tariffs. The proposed pipeline would be built entirely within Canada using Canadian steel.
The study, set to be completed next year, will explore potential locations, costs and additional development opportunities in Ontario, including all-season roads in the Ring of Fire region and grid upgrades. Acting Ontario Infrastructure Minister Todd McCarthy said he hoped the concept would make Prime Minister Mark Carney's next list of major national projects earmarked for fast-tracking, expected next month. He said: "We're not waiting. We hope the federal government will join us."
Canada needs to transform, he said, to ensure it can both power itself and increase energy exports. With both Alberta and Saskatchewan aiming to significantly boost oil production, the premiers of both provinces applauded Ontario's plan.

The Financial Post reports in its Friday edition that in an alternative reality, Canada could have avoided economic self-destruction by building the Northern Gateway, Energy East and Keystone XL pipelines.
The Post's guest columnist Alberta Premier Danielle Smith writes that this would have provided an additional 2.5 million barrels of oil per day in export capacity, generating over $55-billion in annual revenue -- more than 1 per cent of Canada's gross domestic product. These projects could have added $21-billion to GDP each year, created over 62,000 jobs, and increased tax revenues for federal and provincial governments.
Instead, due to federal economic policies causing stagnation and inflation, Canada is missing out on significant revenue and opportunities for greater prosperity.
With Alberta's resource wealth valued at over $9-trillion, Canada cannot afford to leave it untapped.
By building pipelines to new markets and through projects utilizing carbon capture utilization and storage, such as the Pathways project, Canadian energy will be the lowest-emission barrel of heavy oil in the world. Canadian oil and gas can replace higher-emitting energy sources abroad and reduce reliance on undemocratic regimes. |
