the cost of the Emergency room visit was roughly $10K !!! But through the insurance management the fee was reduced to $900.
Anecdotal account of emergency room costs in "socialist" Europe. On a trip to Ireland I developed a very nasty eye infection that caused me to visit the ER in Sligo, in the middle of the night. They had an ophthalmologist on duty who inspected my eye and gave me several antibiotics that cleared it up overnight. Flat rate ER fee was 100€. I am not an Irish or EU citizen, just walked in off the street. And to boot, my Medicare Advantage plan reimbursed me the fee minus a small co-pay on return.
