Did they make you go through a metal detector and ask for your insurance? If you walk into our local hospital emergency dept, you have to go through a metal detector first. Only after that they would ask for your health insurance. Then if you are lucky, you will be seen by a nurse after some wait for an intake. And only after that and few hours later, will be seen by a doctor. That's been my experience few years ago. I'd do anything to avoid going to the emergency department of a local hospital.
