Rhet,

My question is more complex than that, and I thought people might be annoyed at an off topic post. But since you insist, I will send all annoyed notes to YOU. hehe...

This is the problem. I have a 3400C/240 PB and use it for online trading. I want the fastest possible access on line and sometimes my PB goes away for repair and then I have to use an 8100/80AV, so I wanted to get the fastest possible configuration. Then I realized I should not get the G3 PB because it doesn't take a PC board. I am interested in streaming real time quotes and Level II for trading. I am getting the feeling I need a PC for this. Okay... so I decided I needed a minitower G3 for the PC board, but then I found that the PC board is only equivalent to 166 Mhz Pentium and there are much faster Pentiums. Well, then I got stuck. Is there a board for the Mac that will give me the equivalent of the fastest PC? That's a 300 Pentium II MMP, or MM something. Or, is there a way on the Mac to access streaming real time quotes and Level II, in which case I'll just get the G3 PowerBook.

I've been a Mac user since August 1984 and that was my first computer. I have several Macs and have been an Apple partner, have published Mac software. I never learned to use a PC very well, though I bought one to port my software to a PC (never did that, though), and will only use it if I have to. If I can get streaming quotes and Level II on a Mac, I'd far prefer. If I can get equivalent speed to the fastest PC on a Mac, using a PC board, that's second choice. I really do need to get fastest possible speed for these functions.

See? Complicated question. Sorry.

Linda
