It's best if the trustee is not a family member.
My mom's friend made her the trustee to her son's inheritance with objections from her daughter and her other son.
I cannot tell you how much better off this guy is compared to if he had to deal with his siblings.
Obviously the trustee must be trustworthy and have no conflict of interest. But if you find that, it is much better than choosing a family member.
