A couple of responses to that article:

"In a social media post, JD Vance first warned followers not to overreact to the results.

He then went on to offer his own notable interpretation of the Democratic Party victories.

"We need to focus on the home front." he wrote. "The president has done a lot that has already paid off in lower interest rates and lower inflation, but we inherited a disaster from Joe Biden and Rome wasn't built in a day."

The main reason there are lower interest rates is due to a weaker economy and poor employment numbers. They didn't "inherit a disaster from Joe Biden", all they had to do was mostly stay on course, not levy tariffs, not constantly change policies that basically froze companies in place due to the vast economic uncertainty that Trump introduced.

And inflation isn't actually lower. At least not measured by grocery prices. Some housing prices have come down from elevated levels, that is true. Gas prices have gone up and down and Trump managed to "convince" the Saudis and a few other Arab OPEC members to pump more oil despite the prospect of lower prices by trading increased military support, allowing them to buy military and semiconductor things that they were not allowed to buy previously, agreeing to buy a large amount of the extra oil to replenish the US petroleum reserve so that prices wouldn't get too low and a few other things to them in return for pumping more.

"Trump continues to talk about the economy being "Biden's economy". Vance seems to be hinting at the inevitable - that at some point they need to own it and to fix it. They need to make people feel better off."

It became Trump's economy when he started levying tariff after tariff and insisting that he was changing the economy of the US and the world by becoming more isolationist and mercantilist. And constantly changing his policies, as I noted above. Vance can try to run and hide from that but he is part of this administration as the VP and I don't think most voters will allow him to just pick and choose which part he wants to be associated with.
