Job cuts in October hit highest level for the month in 22 years, Challenger says (CNBC)

My take: Companies are cutting back on investment due to economic uncertainty.

Anyone who tells you that it's due to AI doesn't know WTF he or she is talking about. I have yet to see a huge influx of engineers who have mastered generative AI prompting enough to kill jobs.

And I believe my observations are panning out as I read between the lines of public statements made by CEOs. They anticipate that AI will replace the jobs lost due to layoffs. They haven't confirmed it yet.
