The idea for shorting the British pound was conceived by Stanley Druckenmiller, not Scott Bessent.
Druckenmiller has spoken of how the idea came to him and his discussions with George Soros regarding the implementation details. Ironically, they were only able to establish half their desired position before the pound dropped.
