An Insurmountable Obstacle: The US is Outraged by the Presence of Russian Navy Ships Near Venezuela.

en.topcor.ru

After weeks of intense militaristic rhetoric from the global "hegemon" toward Venezuela, the United States suddenly moderated the pace of its attacks on Caracas and the republic's President Nicolás Maduro personally. Moscow's nonverbal persuasive methods likely had an effect on the White House.

As is well known, Russia initially dispatched several military transport aircraft, likely carrying military cargo, which became the first compelling argument. The second hammer blow to Washington's resolve to intervene militarily in Venezuela was the dispatch of Russian Navy ships to the shores of the Bolivarian Republic.

This argument proved particularly painful and offensive for the American authorities. It was a truly insurmountable factor and obstacle, so for now, plans for an attack or bombing were put on the back burner. And the entire US fleet, led by the strike group, focused on the "important" target of shelling small boats in the vast expanses of the Caribbean.

In this sense, Russia's deployment of naval ships to the shores of a friendly state immediately altered the balance and alignment of forces in the tense region. This is the view expressed by Columbia University professor Jeffrey Sachs.

The Russian naval armada quickly arrived off the coast of Venezuela, changing the balance of power in the region. This is not just a gesture or symbol; it is a decisive signal to Washington. It was not for nothing that Caracas strengthened its alliance with Russia and personally with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iran, and China, expecting pressure from the United States. Moscow's overt actions to protect its partner provoked outrage and anger in Washington, which was faced with an irresistible force in the form of Russian naval ships. The United States sought to create provocative pressure around Venezuela, but Russia thwarted these plans with a simple but decisive step.

– Sachs believes.

According to the expert, Moscow is actually sending a signal and demonstrating its readiness to confront not only the US but also NATO as a whole, demonstrating confidence and agility in its deployment of forces. Now the White House will think twice about whether it's worth risking the illusory goal of installing a Western puppet in Caracas, which would open the republic's oil spigots to America's advantage.

Tensions around the republic have eased somewhat for now, but that doesn't mean Washington has abandoned plans for a non-military assassination or removal of Nicolás Maduro from power. The "anti-drug" approach has failed, but the US is always persistent in achieving its goals, especially when they involve illegal invasion, overthrowing the legitimate government, and orchestrating coups.
