Re: Marine

I'm not a Marine, but spent enough time around them to know they view themselves as Marines forever.

A quick sea story. I was a participant in an official Navy ceremony where Marines were in attendance. When I gave my comments I acknowledged my uncle, a Marine who served in the Pacific theater in WW2. At the end of the ceremony, almost every Marine in attendance made a point to go meet him, and pay their respects. It made his day! "Marine reflects the enduring identity and pride that comes with earning the title. Unlike other branches where “former” or “ex” might be used, Marines maintain that the title is permanent. Even after active service ends, the commitment, values, and esprit de corps remain" (Copilot).
