There's some verbiage above that passage (p.22) about Malone granting voting proxy, that I didn't bother with digesting, though Malone is still breathing, if not active.

The baseball revenues are far more significant than the real estate ones. There's way too much to parse about revenue sharing between teams under MLB rules, but the Braves had a mediocre performance last year, and new baseball fans can just as easily follow LA, Toronto or someone else. Regardless, the county ostensibly owns the stadium (another bag of worms), and the company doesn't have a particularly profitable track record.

Still, zillionaires seem to covet owning baseball teams, and, for now, keep buying them at ever increasing prices. So maybe BATRA is a long term takeover play.
