Canadian shoppers vote with their money and buy American again. Elbows up mean balls are exposed :-)

Parasites will always do what's best for them and can't be counted on for loyalty to anything but their free money handouts.

Globe says Loblaw shoppers back to buying U.S. products

2025-11-13 08:15 ET - In the News

The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Nov. 13, edition that Loblaw chief executive officer Per Bank says the removal of Canadian counter-tariffs on U.S. imports has led some shoppers to revert to buying U.S. products after initially opting for Canadian goods. The Globe's Susan Krashinsky Robertson writes that the counter-tariffs increased the price of some U.S. goods while they were in place. Now, however, that they have come down, some customers have been more inclined to add them to their baskets.

Mr. Bank says, "Of course, we are seeing some customers who are going back to those products that they love, now that they are much cheaper than they were, and that will have some impact on Canadian sales."

Sales of Canadian-made products at Loblaw stores are still higher than they were before U.S. President Donald Trump instigated a trade war against Canada and other countries in March, imposing sweeping new tariffs on imports to the United States.

However, Mr. Bank says the spike in sales seen earlier this year has levelled out. Loblaw reported increased sales and profit in the third quarter, as shoppers still stinging from high food inflation in recent years visited its discount grocery stores looking for savings.
