Hi Evan,
The following article at...
biz.yahoo.com
...comes from a couple of years of brow-beating, ground-breaking sweat in another venue, which, to the best of my knowledge, has only been rivaled in recent history by the Ftel thread here in SI <g>.
The author, Brad Buxton, and myself, put on a seemingly cantankerous (at times, but all-in-fun <?>) show called "The Frank and Brad Show" for about a year and a half on the Compuserve Telecomm Forum. We battled out the merits of VoIP and Total National Bandwidth, or TNB, as the thread was appropriately titled, by yours truly. All the way back in 1995-97 (Jeesh! Internet Time!), VoIP was called, simply, "Internet Phone," or I-Phone.
As you read through the article keep in mind that Brad takes on some license of authorship with his attributions as to who said what, why and when. (Hi, Brad!) See what I mean? <g>
Enjoy, and Best Regards,
Frank Coluccio
