I do think it's political. The signs are evident that the economy is under increasing stress.
Unemployment. Mortgages in arrears. Subprime autos. Reduced credit growth and consumer sentiment all pointing down. Throw in effects of the shutdown. Fed should be lowering 0.50 in December. This won't accelerate inflation at this point and it may not slow contraction any.
