Prisoner's dilemma in AI is similar to the Musical chairs analogy drawn to holders of mortgage-backed securities in 2005. Someone was going to step away first. As I recall, the Japanese and Chinese dumped all their holdings in early 2007 when they saw the high level of early payment defaults in the loans made in 2006.
