I dont know what the real estate market is in other states but what I am seeing here in denver/co looks significantly overpriced relative to median incomes. I think it will take way lower rates to get the average real estate market going again. there are significant disadvantages for many to own now. from a tax point of view i suspect many more people are taking the standard deduction you cant deduct mortgage interest or real estate taxes. and then you take the valuation risk too. So i suspect a shift between people wanting to own versus rent.
