No, I don't have a Tesla.

But no, it doesn't have a "long way to go". There is simply too much solid information available on it to say that.

I use as my guide Dan O'Dowd on Twitter, a wannabe competitor who reports on every conceivable mistake that Tesla makes (and as we all know, often in the past, has made them up out of thin air). But the fact he is struggling to come up with examples of meaningful failures is quite encouraging. It is clear the numbers of significant failures is not quite as zero, but getting there.

More importantly, as I pointed out earlier, there are not 100s of cases of lawsuits waiting to find a courthouse.

Reality is Tesla is pretty much there. If it takes another 9 or even two to reach perfection, that'll be okay.

The car is still safer when self-driving than the average driver you'll encounter on I45 or 610 where I live.
