Musk’s xAI, Nvidia Partner on Mega 500-MW Saudi Data Center

Story by Kirti Tak5h

Elon Musk’s xAI will partner with chip maker Nvidia (NVDA) and a Saudi Arabian AI company, Humain, to build a massive 500-megawatt data center in the kingdom. The companies announced the deal on Wednesday at the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum in Washington, D.C.

For context, Humain is a Saudi Arabia–based AI company, backed by the Saudi Public Investment Fund. It invests in large data center projects, collaborating with global tech firms.

More Details About the Deal
Musk and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said they are working with Saudi Arabia’s AI firm Humain on a data center that will use 500 megawatts of power, which is enough to run several hundred thousand homes for a year.

The move expands on a deal from May, when Nvidia said it would provide Humain with chips using 500 megawatts of power. Humain added on Wednesday that the project will involve about 600,000 Nvidia GPUs (graphics processing units).

U.S. officials are expected to soon approve the export of advanced AI chips to Humain and its American partners, according to people familiar with the talks. They added that the approval would come with security safeguards to ensure the chips aren’t used to benefit China.

Saudi Data Centers See Big Investment from US
Wednesday’s event signaled a renewed corporate interest in Saudi Arabia after companies backed away in 2018 following the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. President Trump highlighted Saudi Arabia’s investments in the U.S. and praised the partnership between the two countries.
