RUMOR. RUMOR. RUMOR

There is a post with some modicum of credibility touting the possibility that Zoox(see link) is considering changing it's LiDAR provider from it's current Hesai and that Ouster is 'being considered' due to possible geopolitical issues with Chinese LiDAR provider Hesai. Zoox is owned by Amazon and Amazon uses Ouster sensors for their Proteus warehouse robot.

fwiw the Zoox vehicle looks to me to have a large potential market to include fairgrounds, urban centers, Amazon package delivery and more.

From an AI search..

<<Zoox vehicles have
not been sold to individual consumers; instead, they are part of a self-driving ride-hailing fleet and are owned and operated by Zoox (an Amazon subsidiary).
The company currently has a fleet of approximately 50purpose-built robotaxis operating in Las Vegas and San Francisco. Members of the public can sign up for a waitlist to experience free rides in these specific operating areas, but the vehicles are not available for purchase.
Zoox has opened a manufacturing facility in California that, when at full scale, is intended to produce up to 10,000 robotaxis annually to expand its ride-hailing service, not for private sale. >>
