Thronefish,
So how did labor costs get so high?
First-world countries always have high labor costs.

Typically you import workers from poorer countries in order to keep labor costs down while the existing citizens move up the labor chain toward more white collar and managerial jobs.

But like the gEnIuSeS you are, you send the Bald Goebbels after these workers and kick them out because, you know, it's "their fault" that you people from the "red states" aren't rich rich rich.

Voila, labor supply dries up and manufacturers like Hyundai either delay their plans for construction, or they go somewhere else.

And it's not like we don't need these factories. We definitely do. But Trump the idiot is driving investment away.

Of course, you'd never know because Trump keeps claiming that he attracted trillions of dollars of investment. Again, Trump is the only agency with any legitimacy.
