  • Hyundai’s smallest EV continues its strong award momentum across Europe
  • Judges highlight INSTER’s versatility, efficiency and class-leading equipment
  • Latest accolade reinforces the model’s positioning in the growing small EV segment
Offenbach am Main — The all-electric Hyundai INSTER has been named ‘Supermini of the Year’ at the 2026 TopGear.com awards ceremony in London, earning one of the most recognised distinctions in Europe’s automotive media landscape. The experts at TopGear.com praised INSTER for its versatile performance, clever packaging and generous equipment levels, underlining its leadership in the rapidly-expanding small EV segment.

“This latest accolade from TopGear.com is another strong endorsement for INSTER to add to the “2025 World Electric Vehicle” title it received in New York and the “Golden Steering Wheel” win it was awared in Berlin recently,” said Xavier Martinet, President & CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe. “This growing list of achievements shows how powerfully INSTER resonates with industry experts who appreciate its smart design, efficient electric performance and everyday usability – exactly what European drivers expect from a modern, accessible EV.”

A compact EV engineered for Europe

INSTER combines distinctive compact SUV styling with agile urban performance while also delivering an all-electric WLTP range of up to 370 kilometres (with the long-range battery), making it ideally suited for both daily commuting and spontaneous weekend trips. At DC fast-charging stations, INSTER can recharge from 10 to 80% in around 30 minutes.

Its two efficient powertrain options, offering 97 PS and a 42 kWh battery or 115 PS and a 49 kWh battery, deliver smooth and responsive electric performance, complemented by a modern digital cockpit with dual 10.25-inch displays and versatile and spacious cabin, all of which combines to make INSTER a particularly attractive entry point into zero-tailpipe-emission mobility.

Award-winning momentum

The latest accolade builds on a growing list of recognitions in 2025. INSTER has already secured titles such as World Electric Vehicle 2025 and the Golden Steering Wheel 2025 in the ‘vehicles under €25,000’ category, where judges praised its design, charging capability, and everyday usability. Together, these awards reflect INSTER’s growing reputation as one of Europe’s most compelling new electric small cars.
