Why Jensen Huang spent Thanksgiving weekend in Taiwan Monica Chen, Taipei; Eifeh Strom, DIGITIMES Asia Friday 28 November 2025
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was spotted in Taipei, Taiwan, on November 27, marking his third trip to Taiwan in the second half of 2025. While earlier reports suggested that he was in town to pay a visit to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) founder Morris Chang, sources indicate his primary purpose this time was to engage with Quanta Computer.
Wiki: Quanta Computer Incorporated is a Taiwanese contract manufacturer of electronic hardware. Quanta's business extends to enterprise network systems, home entertainment, mobile communication, automotive electronics, and digital home markets.

Following his meeting with TSMC(2330.TW) on August 22 to discuss production plans for the upcoming next-generation Rubin GPU architecture, which is soon entering trial production, Huang returned to Taiwan on November 7 via private jet landing at the Tainan Airport. He then toured TSMC's 3nm wafer fab at the Southern Taiwan Science Park and dined with TSMC chairman CC Wei and other executives before taking part in TSMC's annual sports day event the next morning.
Huang had previously indicated that his next trip to Taiwan would be before Lunar New Year in 2026, coinciding with Nvidia's annual year-end banquet. Unexpectedly, however, he appeared in Taiwan during the US Thanksgiving holiday on November 27, visiting areas including Taipei's Siping Street and Dazhi District. When asked, Huang only stated that he was "visiting friends," fueling speculation about a possible meeting with Chang, who missed TSMC's sports day on November 8 due to health reasons.
The Thanksgiving day arrival marked Huang's fifth trip to Taiwan since early 2025. As this trip was strictly personal, no staff from Nvidia's Taiwan office accompanied him. His day unfolded much like previous visits, turning into a culinary shopping tour, during which he was spotted by locals who shared sightings on social media. Huang maintained that his visit was simply to see friends.

Quanta market concerns prompt visit
However, sources indicate that the primary purpose of Huang's visit was Quanta(2382.TW). The company had previously offered an optimistic outlook, noting order visibility extending through 2027. It further highlighted the gradual ramp-up of GB300 server mass production. Mass production of AI server products based on the Vera Rubin architecture is also scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026.
Despite this, market concerns persist. Questions have been raised about Quanta's assembly and manufacturing yields, as well as its ability to secure additional orders, amid reports that Nvidia is tightening procurement controls.
Given Huang's close relationship with Quanta chairman Barry Lam, it is speculated that he made a special trip to Taiwan to discuss ongoing collaboration strategies.
Plans for Nvidia's new Taipei office at the Beitou Shilin Technology Park T17 and T18 sites have already been finalized. Nvidia's global vice president of real estate and site services Scott Ekman has been coordinating with the Taipei City Government on the project's progress, making it unlikely that Huang's visit was related to the office development. During his November 7 trip, Huang also met with TSMC to review the details of upcoming wafer tape-out and production.
