I got a message from Netgear saying my wireless router goes off support Dec. 1st. I have been looking at replacement routers, and I'm kind of shocked that not only are companies like TP Link selling boatloads of routers that are past support, but even the newest models are only offering 1-year of support.

I suspect they are doing this to sell security subscriptions at like $5.00/month or something like that.

Does anyone have any good insight into the best approach here? I'm not real keen about running data though a router that is past getting security updates, but it looks like maybe half of the homes in the US are not keeping up support on their routers.
