Lots of news reports over the years say the average American gains 5-7 lbs. over the holidays. That number is not correct. The correct data is 1-2 lbs. according to peer-reviewed studies.

Regardless of the data, it is still a good idea for people to get lean. Health and life expectancy are far better when you are lean. Your cost of living is far less if you are lean as well, as you have lower medical bills and lower food bills.
