wear gloves to get things out of the freezer.

In school, I worked in a large dormatory kitchen. It had a room sized refrigerator. At the back of that was a smaller room sized freezer. At the back of that was a closet sized flash freezer. It was -20F in the flash freezer. You definitely needed to wear gloves.

I recall several times when a more careless worker put a pan into the flash freezer and it slopped over the side and instantly froze. Their gloves would get frozen to the pan (or the shelf) and they had to remove the glove and run away to warmer temperatures.
