As I suspected, you are in the top 1 or 2% at over half a million clams.
If your income gets over 675k and the Obama care surcharge of 4.1% over that threshold, you may be losing money on Treasuries.

The government hates people like you and thus has huge tax penalties as we all know the way to get less of something is to tax the hell out of it.

US Treasuries are STATE tax free I believe. So not an issue in Texas.
There is a trick with Treasuries to defer income... buy strip zeros that pay the interest all at once when they come due. You might be able to alternate high and low tax penalty years with a little planning, but I get your point you make far more with your system than you make optimizing taxes and interest and you seem to enjoy it.

Smarter people think we should encourage hard work and large income and stop with the silly penalties which led me to do what is fun for far less income and at least one company here lost out on a good CEO. I think people are stupid to work for over 50% tax rate UNLESS they enjoy the job so much, then they are smart to do it such as Steph Curry who makes over $50M in base salary, loves his job and does even more to make even more while not complaining about his high CA taxes.
