This is a concern I have about the Tesla robot as well. It seems like the basis for the design is, "People are perfectly evolved for work, so robots should look and act like people."

But special purpose robots can be really particularly effective for tasks like building automobiles or storing and retrieving barcoded goods and "hives" (Kroger). And Amazon is going a good job of reducing the need for manual storage and retrieval.

Converted tradition surgical robots will prove far more efficient than a guy who looks like a surgeon, although there are definitely improvements that could be made to accommodate minimally-staffed surgeries.

I don't know. I guess we'll see how it evolves.
