It was a mistake, but the new information shows that it was not solely Trump's idea. It shows he was pressed into it by bipartisan Deep State coalition.

The same coalition that forced Trump to put various threats, tariffs and Sanctions on India, to force India and Russia into each other's arms. Same stupidity as Biden forcing China and Russia into each other's arms.

The reason Trump did it (with India) is because (apparently 80 strong) Deep State coalition in Senate tried to force Trump's hand on Russia.
