Europe is not "impressed" with the Trump / Putin plan.

Two and a half hours of talks inside Downing Street - what we know

President Volodymyr Zelensky has just finished talks in London with the leaders of the UK, Germany and France - discussing the latest draft peace plan, aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.

If you're just joining us, let's quickly recap what we know about those talks:

  • Keir Starmer greeted Zelensky outside Downing Street early this afternoon - with the prime minister vowing that any deal must include "hard-edged" security guarantees for Ukraine
  • French President Emmanuel Macron said Ukraine's allies have "a lot of cards" in their hands ahead of peace talks
  • However German Chancellor Friedrich Merz voiced his scepticism over "some of the details which we are seeing in the documents coming from the US side"
  • Merz's comments come after President Trump accused Zelensky of not having read the latest proposal discussed between US and Ukrainian officials over the weekend - our diplomatic correspondent James Landale says it's part of a familiar pattern
  • The talks inside Downing Street have finished and the four leaders have been pictured together outside No 10
  • Later today, Zelensky is due to travel across the English Channel to Brussels, to meet Nato officials and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen
