BUY AND HOLD VERSUS TRADING STRATEGY

Nanda, you have been obviously very successful with your trading in and out strategy which has been close to my strategy over the past year. I am looking though to see how well people who predominently have used a Buy and hold strategy have done as I have switched to that for tax reasons. In looking back into 1997 I find that March 31, 1997 was a watershed date as most Y2K stocks then began a long term upward trend after falling for much of the first quarter of 1997.In April of 1997 I was recommending on this this thread buying the following stocks:MIFGY,VIAS,CHRZ,KEA,IMRS AND CBR.Since then these stocks have performed as follows:
MIFGY + 153%
VIAS - 10%
CHRZ + 132%
IMRS + 322%
CBR + 157%
KEA + 165%

AVG + 153%
Four of the six appreciated about the same in the last 47 weeks.Vias was the only
stock doing poorly since then. There are many other really big winners since then besides IMRS, including CBSL,MAST which I only discovered later in the spring.Since March 31,1997 my short term trading strategy produced a gain of 215% above the value of my portfolio on 3/31/97. Because I was heavily margined at the time and remained that troughout my gain on my own money after margin interest was 433%.I am interested in finding out how well people did who held a portfolio of at least 4 Y2K stocks did over the same period. It is obvious that I had been smart enough to hold only IMRS,CBSL,MAST,and CPWR I would have done much better but that is hindsight.I hoping to realize an additional 40% gain before I cash out hopefully then with only an average 25% tax rate on the 500,000$ gain I am shooting for by then.
