RE: Vail Resorts (MTN)

Vail Resorts seeks to boost ski season with discounted lift tickets

To give skiers more options to save money on lift tickets and make the sport more accessible and affordable, Vail Resorts ( MTN) is offering discounts of 30% or more at 12 destinations for guests that purchase lift tickets four or more weeks in advance.

Previously, Vail Resorts ( MTN) only offered savings on lift access through an Epic Pass or Epic Day Pass pre-season purchase or a discount on lift tickets purchased online at least seven days in advance.

This season, however, Vail Resorts ( MTN) is offering deeper discounts to lift tickets purchased a month or more in advance at top destinations, including Vail Mountain, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Crested Butte, Park City Mountain, Whistler Blackcomb, Heavenly, Northstar, Stowe, Okemo, and Mount Snow during the 2025/2026 season.

By buying a lift ticket a month in advance, skiers at Vail Mountain will now pay $229 on peak days and $199 on off-peak days versus $299 and $259, respectively if they buy tickets a week in advance, and $335 and $307 on day of.

The new promotion comes on the heels of several disappointing ski seasons and efforts by the company to boost visitation. During the company’s most recent earnings call, CEO Robert Katz attributed underperformance to a lag in adapting guest engagement methods and lack of focus on ticket business.

“Our immediate priority is increasing guest visitation to our resorts and essential drive of revenue,” Katz said, adding that the company’s failure to keep pace with shifting consumer behaviors and “fully capitalize on competitive advantages” is responsible for disappointing Epic Pass unit sales and failure to turn a profit.
