Environment Canada has just issued an orange alert for the latest atmospheric river approaching southern BC. The last one was cooler than expected, so rather than rain it dumped more than a halff metre of snow in the mountains. However, this one is much warmer, so the heavy rains will melt much of that snow accumulation, resulting in the threat of serious flooding, not to mention landslides from areas stripped of vegetation by wildfires.

It is recommended not to travel inland over the mountains from Vancouver for at least the next 24 hours unless absolutely necessary.

Oddly, it is sunny outside right now for the first time in days, but this will not last more than a few hours.
