LG has launched the UltraGear 27GX790B monitor in China. This monitor sports a dual-mode 4th Gen OLED display with support up to 720Hz refresh rate. The 27-inch OLED model hits 720Hz in its lower-resolution mode of 720P, similar to recent 720Hz monitor announcements from Asus and ViewSonic. It targets competitive players who want faster response, cleaner motion, and OLED’s colour and contrast advantages in one package. LG’s move also lands as lesser-known brands like Koorui and HKC have unveiled 750Hz at 1080P TN monitors, and prominent names such as AOC and Philips set their sights on even higher 1000Hz models for 2026, signalling how quickly the segment is evolving.

Price and availability LG has launched the UltraGear 27GX790B in the Chinese market. Pricing and global availability have not been announced at the time of writing

Specifications The LG UltraGear 27GX790B uses a 26.5-inch 4th Gen OLED panel at a 2560 x 1440 resolution. It supports 48Hz to 540Hz at its native QHD setting and can switch to 720Hz in HD mode. This approach gives esports players headroom for high-FPS titles, yet keeps QHD available for when resolution matters more than raw speed. LG rates the panel at 0.02ms GTG, which, paired with OLED’s instantaneous pixel response, should deliver clean motion and reduced overshoot in fast shooters. Viewing angles are wide at 178 degrees in both directions.

The 4th Gen OLED panel uses LG Display’s 4-stack Primary RGB Tandem structure, which is designed for better brightness handling, more stable performance over time, and richer colour accuracy. Brightness reaches 335 nits in SDR and up to 1500 nits in HDR on this panel. With a 1,500,000:1 static contrast ratio and pixel-level dimming, the monitor is positioned to offer deep blacks and consistent highlight control. The display also covers 99.5 percent of the DCI-P3 colour space and renders in 10-bit, which should help with more accurate gradients and HDR colour reproduction.
