Pfizer is a criminal organization, if you don't understand that you are either a criminal or criminally stupid.
  • It is impossible to list every Pfizer court case because the company has thousands of lawsuits across many decades and countries.

  • Public databases show dozens of government enforcement actions and many billions in penalties, but these still do not cover all private lawsuits or international cases.
Major Historical Pfizer Cases
  • 2009: Pfizer paid $2.3 billion for criminal and civil allegations involving illegal off-label marketing of Bextra and several other drugs.

  • 2004: Pfizer (via Warner-Lambert) paid $430 million for off-label marketing of Neurontin.

  • 2004–2014: Neurontin civil litigation resulted in about $945 million total in settlements.

  • 2000s: Additional Bextra and Celebrex marketing cases were included in the 2009 DOJ settlement.
Securities and Investor Cases
  • Shareholder lawsuits were filed claiming Pfizer failed to disclose the extent of illegal marketing practices leading up to the 2009 settlement.

  • These securities class actions occurred in U.S. federal court and involved allegations of misleading investors.
Co-Pay Assistance / Anti-Kickback Case
  • Pfizer sued HHS seeking approval for a co-pay assistance program for its heart drug tafamidis.

  • Courts ruled against Pfizer, stating the program would violate the Anti-Kickback Statute.

  • The Second Circuit upheld the decision, and the Supreme Court declined to review it.
COVID-19 Vaccine-Related Litigation
  • Texas sued Pfizer claiming the company misrepresented vaccine effectiveness; a federal judge dismissed the case but Texas appealed, and litigation continues.

  • Kansas filed a similar lawsuit alleging Pfizer misled residents about vaccine risks and benefits; the case remains active.

  • Experts have widely criticized the scientific basis of these state lawsuits.
Patent Litigation Related to COVID Vaccines
  • Moderna sued Pfizer and BioNTech in the U.S. and Europe claiming their COVID-19 vaccine infringed Moderna’s mRNA patents; litigation is ongoing in multiple jurisdictions.

  • UK courts ruled that at least one Moderna patent was valid and infringed, allowing Moderna to seek damages for post-2022 sales of Comirnaty.

  • Alnylam sued Pfizer and BioNTech over lipid nanoparticle (LNP) patents; in 2025 Alnylam dropped its U.S. case after an unfavorable claim-construction ruling but is considering appeal.
Other Recent Pfizer-Related Cases
  • Seagen (owned by Pfizer) sued Daiichi Sankyo over the cancer drug Enhertu; an early jury verdict for Seagen was overturned by the Federal Circuit, which found the patent invalid.

  • Pfizer filed an antitrust lawsuit against Metsera, its controlling stockholders, and Novo Nordisk involving competition in the obesity-drug market; litigation is in early stages.
